Regional Race Report: Rock the House 8K (VA)
The newly named Rock the House 8K continued to grow as runners started at the Celebrate Fairfax Festival. Last year the race was a typical pre-summer day in June with more than modest humidity that would climb to about eighty degrees. This year the course would be littered with liters of perspiration as the region launched into a record heat wave.
Regional Race Report: Run The Rockies Half Marathon/10K (CO)
Johannes Rudolph of Boulder celebrated his 43rd birthday by winning the Run the Rockies Half Marathon Saturday in Frisco, CO. Rudolph's winning time was 1:21:38. "It's nice, high air," Rudolph said. "Clean air. ... I don't' like big races, I didn't run the Bolder Boulder this year because of all the people and noise.
Stoltz, Vanlandingham Win XTERRA Southeast
PELHAM, AL – Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz overcame a flat tire and the hard charging Dan Hugo to win the men’s race while mountain bike phenom Shonny Vanlandingham pulled off the first big win of her XTERRA career to take the women’s XTERRA Southeast Championship at Oak Mountain State Park in Shelby County today.

June 8, 2008 – The 2008 Rocky Mountain Half Marathon and McDonald’s Women’s 8k significantly increased its number of participants with nearly 2,000 registered runners, almost doubling the number of runners that registered last year, while hosting elite field winners such as Lafayette resident and two-time Olympian Alan Culpepper.

Kibet Holds Off Perez, Kastor for Victory in New York Mini 10K
New York, June 7, 2008—Dutch Olympian Hilda Kibet led fellow Olympians Madai Perez of Mexico and Deena Kastor of the United States to a one-two-three finish in a hot and steamy 37th running of the New York Mini 10K in Central Park on Saturday. Kibet pulled away in the last mile of the 6.2-mile race to claim the $10,000 first-place prize with a winning time of 32:43.
Dibaba Breaks 5,000m World Record in Oslo!
Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba highlighted the second edition of IAAF Golden League 2008, the ExxonMobil Bislett Games, breaking the World record in the women's 5,000 meters Friday night in Oslo, Norway. A two-time World 10,000m champion, Dibaba demolished the World record by over five seconds, winning the women's 5,000m in 14:11.15.
Worlds Best Athletes to Compete Sunday at Prefontaine Classic

Top Age Groupers & PC Triathletes to Compete in Vancouver
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ( Jun. 3 2008 ) More than 400 athletes will be part of a robust Team USA competing at the ITU Age Group World Championship in Vancouver, Canada, on June 7. Team USA earned 39 age group medals at last year’s World Championship in Hamburg, Germany, and the team will try to surpass that number this year.
Regional Race Preview: Bangs Lake Triathlon on August 10 (IL)
Running Away Multisport has acquired the Lake Zurich Triathlon of Lake Zurich, IL. The Lake Zurich Triathlon, -- which left the race scene in 2006 due to road construction and returned to the August race calendar in 2007 -- has ceased operations. Running Away Multisport plans to relocate the event to the Bangs Lake area in Wauconda, IL.
Regional Race Preview: Rocky Mountain Half Marathon (CO)
Double the runners from 2007 are expected to run Denver’s Riverfront Park for the fourth annual 2008 Rocky Mountain Half Marathon™ & McDonald’s Women’s 8K. The half marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the women’s 8K will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 8.
